The “Sunnah Days” to get “Cupping” done.

The act of perfoming Hijama/cupping is the best remedy for every kind of disease and most importantly,it is a Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (صلاللهعليهوسلم).

But do we  know as how Al -hijama (cupping) is to be practised according to the sunnah, and the manner in which it should be performed? Are there recommended times for one to have it done, or times that one should avoid cupping? Other than “Sunnah” are there any reasons to try cupping for?

Al -hijama (cupping) is to be practised according to the sunnah! How?what is the manner in which it should be performed?

In our other post it has been given in detail explanation about cupping, its benefits, its types and the manners it should be practised according “Sunnah” and many narrations/hadith supporting it.

Are there recommended times for one to have it done, or times that one should avoid cupping?

The Best and most beneficial days for “Cupping” are 17th, 19th and 21st of the Islamic month which coincides with Monday, Tuesday or Thursday.

There are many authentic narrations in the hadith to explain and support this.

Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever is treated with cupping on the seventeenth, nineteenth or twenty first, will be healed from all diseases.” (Abu Dawood, 3861, and al-Bayhaqi, 9/340. )

As for the  day or night, the night enters before the day islamically. Cupping (hijama) is best performed during the daytime between the adhaan of fajr and the adhaan of maghrib.

An example of Sunnah days for next month April 2016(Rajab 1437 A.H.) will be:

24th- Sunday ( 17th Rajab)

26th April- Tuesday (19th  Rajab)

28th April -Thursday –(21st Rajab)

Is there times that one should avoid cupping?

Choosing the times mentioned above for cupping  is the best possible time for cupping, is an extra precaution,to be on the safe side and to protect one’s health, especially since the words of the doctors are in agreement with it.

But this is not to say that it is not good to do it at other times.

As a form of medical treatment, cupping should not be restricted to any particular time; it should be done as needed by the patient.when it comes to treating disease, whenever it is necessary it should be used.

If cupping is done out of necessity it is beneficial at any time, even at the beginning or end of the month. It is essential to make sure that you do it properly.

Other than “Sunnah” are there any reasons to try cupping for?

Yes.There are many reasons  trying the cupping therapy ,a going to be  mainstream.

Celebrity enthusiasts, still growing in numbers ,has spoken about using cupping for relaxation as well as various kinds of physical complaints.

Athletes using the “cupping  therapy “as a secret weapon to naturally improve health and performance.

Cupping having  numerous health benefits, working wonders for patients with the flu, colds, coughs, back and muscle pain, poor circulation, anxiety, red itchy skin conditions  allergies, fevers, aches and myriad other pains etc.

so will be the next “hijama days”, that you try cupping with our practitioners?

“HEY DOCTOR, WHAT IS THIS ACUPUNCTURE ALL ABOUT?”

ACUPUNCTURE: WHAT IS IT?HOW DOES ACUPUNCTURE WORK?DOES ACUPUNCTURE REALLY WORK?

WHAT ARE THE NEEDLES LIKE? DO THEY HURT?

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS TO THE TREATMENT?

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

These are the paramount questions people have asked so far.

Who would have guessed that a tiny needle(or 12)could be such a boon to your well-being?The ancient practice of acupuncture, is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine that has been practised for at least 2,500 years, improves your health from head to toe.

WHAT IS IT?

It involves placing very thin needles through the patient’s skin at specific points at various depths into parts of the body known as “meridians” and applying heat or electrical stimulation at very precise acupuncture points.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Traditional Chinese medicine explains that Illness is said to be the consequence of an imbalance of the forces circulation of qi (vital energy) and blood.

Take for an example ,the flow of water through a stream, could be blocked off by an obstruction (fallen tree or a mud slide)across the waterway. When a stream is blocked, it floods above the blockage, and below the blockage it dries up. If one goes to the point of blockage and clears it away, then the stream can resume its natural course. In a blocked stream, just cutting a small hole or crevice in the blockage will often clear the entire stream path, because the force of the water that penetrates the hole will widen it continuously until the normal course is restored.

In a like manner,in humans, it might be caused by something striking the body, the influence of bad weather, or ingestion of improper foods. If the qi in the meridian becomes blocked, the condition of the body becomes disordered like the flooding and dryness; if one could remove the blockage from the flow of qi within a meridian, the natural flow could be restored.Inserting a small needle into the blocked meridian will have a similar effect.

Just as a stream may have certain points more easily accessed (or more easily blocked), the meridians have certain points which, if treated by needling, will have a significant impact on the flow pattern.

DOES ACUPUNCTURE REALLY WORK?

Yes. In the past ,more people have been successfully given treatment with acupuncture than with all other options combined. Today Acupuncture is practised widely in East and West.

WHAT ARE THE NEEDLES LIKE? DO THEY HURT?

Acupuncture needling experience is different in different patients. Some feel only minimal pain as the needles are inserted and others  feel no pain at all. Once the needles are in place, there will be no pain to be felt.

Acupuncture needles are very thin, solid ,made from stainless steel with smooth point and insertion through the skin is not as painful as injections or blood sampling. The risk of bruising and skin irritation is less than when using a hollow needle.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS TO THE TREATMENT?

Usually not.Doctors carefully sterilizes the needles with same techniques as for surgical instruments, or uses disposable needles, so there is no risk of infection from the treatments.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

It differs from person to person. For long-standing conditions,or complex case, one or two treatments  are needed for about a week for several months. For acute problems, usually fewer visits are required.

Reviving The Sunnah:”CUPPING”For every Disease

Good health is indeed a  blessing from Allah(SWT) Almighty. We should be in gratitude to God for bestowing us with precious health, and we should make a good effort to look after it.

There is a hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh),where Ibn Abaas reported:

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)  said,  “There are two blessings in which many people incur loss. (They are) health and free time (for doing good)”.[Al-Bukhari]

But what happens when someone gets sick  or a disease?

Either they visit the doctor or they take some medicine hoping for immediate relief.

But ever wonder what did the Prophet صل الله عليه و سلم used to do?

Abdullah ibn Abbas reported that the Messenger صل الله عليه و سلم was cupped on his head for a unilateral headache while he was in Ihraam.[Bukhari].

“Indeed in cupping (Hijama) there is a cure.” (Saheeh Muslim – 5706)

How many of us even know about  hijama– proven and strongest sunnahs of the Prophet (pbuh)? How many of us even think of it as a cure for our diseases?

What is Al-Hijama(Cupping)?

Cupping or Al-Hijama (حِجَمَة)  is the process involving  cups placed on specific areas and on various points on the body by removing the air inside the cups in order to form a vacuum by making small cuts to the skin in order to collect the blood in that area.

This vacuum sucks out the diseased blood which is then poured into the cups which are disposed.

It is a safe and unique treatment to reduce pains and there are is no health risks or side effects involved in this process when practised properly.

Benefits of cupping

Cupping has real benefits in treating many diseases, past and present.

The diseases that treated by cupping and for which it has been of benefit by Allah’s Leave include:

1.Circulatory diseases and some diseases of the heart and chest

2.Treating blood pressure and infection of the heart muscle

3.Diseases of the chest and trachea (windpipe)

4.Headache and pains in the eyes, neck ,stomach and rheumatic pain in the muscles and joints

Its  not just a reactionary medicine for a disease but also a preventative measure  and has a cure for all diseases and improves the intellect as well.

Do we have different kinds of Al-Hijama??

Yes,there are a number of different methods and types of bloodletting and while the therapist should know in detail which method is best, based on the patients health.

Wet cupping (Al-Hijama)

It is the process in which a cup is placed on specific areas of the body and negative pressure (vacuum) in order to collect the blood in that area with incisions to remove ‘harmful’ blood that lies just underneath the surface of the skin.

Wet cupping (Al-Hijama) must be performed by a cupping (Al-Hijama) therapist.

So What do i need to do?

Given its importance, benefits and that its a proven sunnah of the Prophet صل الله عليه و سلم, we must revive this sunnah in our lives by finding practitioners of Hijama and get it performed on us and spread the good about it to anyone who you know and will have a benefit.

As we have this:

“Whoever guides anyone to goodness, his reward shall be the same as those who follow his guidance without lessening a bit of their reward.” – Rasool Allah [SAWS].

Why do i need to opt for a Traditional Medicine ?

As a experienced medical practitioners,we are Well-trained when it comes to fight back the disease, becoming familiar with all the metaphors of struggle, victory, failure, questioning, answering, reasoning and view of minds being separate from body.

We have to believe that absence of health,in this case,DISEASE is a never ending fight against bacteria, microbes, viruses and the like in order to help our patients reach a perfecting state of grace in body and mind.

In a much-quoted ḥadīth Muḥammad stated, “‘God has not sent down a disease without sending down a remedy for it.( Bukhari)

Other well-known ḥadīth urge believers to seek treatment/medicine for their diseases.

But when it comes to medicine,Is the Modern Better than Herbal?

Modern medicine:

Modern medicines been highly effective in the prevention and treatment of many illnesses.Thousands of ailments which would have been fatal hundred years back, can now be treated with modern medicine resulting in  dramatical increase in  healthy and fulfilling life span of the person.

Despite the fact that modern medicine is dominant in developed countries, there is also a dark side to modern medicine. Its high cost combined with its side effects and its emphasis on the cure rather than prevention, has led many to adopt herbal medicine as an alternative.
